|In response to Re: PVC to Cast Iron under slab?|
In my area (Cleveland) shielded couplings are required only for above-ground connections. Ferncos are permitted underslab. You may find as I did that Mission couplings at the jobber store cost less than the Ferncos at the Home centers anyway. If your work will be inspected, use whatever the inspector wants to see.
: Most areas require that the connection be made with a coupling that has a metal band around the outside. Mission couplings, and sometimes No-Hub couplings, are recommended.
: : Digging out slab for new bathroom renovation project...can I use a Fernco to couple the PVC to cast iron under slab? I tried to find some code refs on it and found nothing yet...
: : Thanks, Matt
