: : Hi--hope you can help. Have a year old water pump, tank, guage etc. Was working great. About the last month or so, when doing a large load of wash, washer fills, washes drains, then pump will NOT come back on for rinse cycle. Go to basement, pull up lever and hold, pump kicks back on, guage goes back up to 40 and washer fills. Do load on medium, fills fine for both. Take a long shower or bath, next person gets no water until you go to basement hold up lever...what gives??
: Try installing a new presure switch, it could be the old one has bad contact or diaphram.

You could also be running out of water. The pressure switch has a safety shut off to prevent pump operation whenever the water pressure falls below cut-off pressure. When you pull up and hold the lever, you are manually restarting it.
If you replace the pressure switch, be sure to get one with the safety cut-off and check the air in the pressure tank. It should be 2#s lower than the kick on pressure for the pump.
