Plants, potting soil & kitchen sink

I and my garden forum friends have a few questions regarding potting soil going down the drain. We tend to water our plants in our kitchen sink because we find it easy to rinse the plants off and water them at the same time. There is a tendensy for a little soil to drain out and go down the sink. I myself admit to washing my used flower pots (98% of soil removed) in my kitchen sink. Our question is, is this a bad habit? Will the soil and perlite found in many soil mixes cause damage or clogs?? If so, what other things should we prevent from going down the drain other than the obvious items like hair, grease, food? Thanks!,
