|In response to Re: From tub/shower unit to shower unit|
It is not OK, and if you do it be prepared for a "lifetime" of problems, ranging from poor drainage due to the length of 1 1/2" pipe you will have installed, to difficulty unplugging it because of that same 1 1/2" pipe and the additional elbows it will use.
: We would like to replace existing one piece fiberglass tub/shower unit with multiple piece shower unit. Drain in existing unit is on right hand side where shower unit drain is in middle. The plumbing is in concrete slab. Is it OK to connect shower drain to existing tub drain as long as we have the correct slope even though the drain will be 26 inches from the p-trap drain? We may have to chip out some concrete to accomidate the elbow joint under the shower drain.
