DWV Pipe gap and Fernco
Posted by David Steinberg on February 23, 2004 at 09:32:52:
I had an under-slab toilet flange that was placed too close to the wall (by 4"!). I broke open the slab, cut out the fittings, and glued on a new santee for 12" rough-in. In order to have clearance to glue in the downstream pipe, I end up with a 1-1/2" gap upstream (in the horizontal section), which I joined over with a Fernco coupling. If this section were vent-only, I wouldn't give it a second thought, but the sink drains are wet-vented upstream of this joint. Is there anything I should do differently with this joint, or call it done and close it up? Thanks in advance for your help.
