: IRC allow 1-1/2" drain lines for both a laundry tub and a kitchen sink; UPC wants 2" for both. Your local codes may vary. Both codes allow a 1-1/2" trap, but UPC wants 2" lines beyond the trap arm. : Going up to 2" seems prudent, as it will give you less clogs, better venting, and isn't a great deal more expensive. 1-1/2" vents should work fine on both. : Please note that I am not a professional plumber; my experience is limited to replumbing three old houses that my wife and I bought, fixed up, and lived in.
