In response to Re: Garbage disposal backup
: I was running my garbage disposal quite a bit this morning when all of a sudden water came shooting out the drain on the other side of the sink. (I have a double sink) I shut it off right away. It smelled like a sewer, so I put some vinegar and pine sol down it. Then I ran it again. It backed up a little into the other sink but I ran it one more time and it was fine. I've run it a few times since with no problems but I can't get the smell out. So, my first question is, what happened? My second is, any suggestions on how to get the odor gone. Thanks!

Try putting two trays of ice and running cold water while the unit is grinding the ice, then toss in a few lemon/lime peels.
It probably wasn't "sewage" but smelled like it. The drain line may need to be snaked and cleaned professionally to help prevent this from happening again.
