In response to Re: Echo noise from toilet when warter drains
: We have two bathrooms that are stacked and when the bottom toilet is flushed, you can hear an echo type of noise in the upstairs bathroom. This is when the water is draining. Now we hear this noise when the downstairs shower is running and when the washing machine's water is draining. We had a plumber come out and they checked the air pressure valve (I'm not sure if this is what its called.)This was ok so they thought it was a clogged drain. They clean out the main sewer drain but it still makes the noise. The plumb said he has never head such a noise. Any suggestions?

Reply:
"checked the air pressure valve" is possibly referring to an air admittance valve (quick-vent) on the plumbing system. Your problem sounds like drain water echoing through the waste and vent system or a dried up drain trap on an infrequently used fixtures allowing the sound of water flow noise to exit the trap.
