You need to have a blanket party. Cover the old tub with a blanket you do not want and hit it as hard as you can with the biggest hammer you can find. Messy is a realive term. A basement full of crap from a mainline backed up for several days is messy, breaking up a tub is just hard and picking up pieces. Wear safety glasses and provide hearing protection for those around you that you love.
