In response to Re: Dishwasher installation
: Hi, I have purchased a new dishwasher and need help with installation. The home (100+ years old) was never designed for a dishwasher, so this is a new installation. The problem I am having is that the location of the dishwasher is around the corner from the sink and the drain hose that came with the dishwasher will not reach. Couple of questions: Is there a limit to how far a dishwasher can drain? Is an air gap necessary if draining into a disposal assuming i loop the line high under the counter?
: Thanks, Chris.

An air gap is necessary only if your local plumbing code requires it. You can extend the DW drain hose by drilling through the cabinet(s) but make sure the connection is accessible. To find out max distance or pumping capabilities of the DW, contact the manufacturer.
Good Luck. e-plumber
