In response to Re: Identification of a bathtub faucet stem
: I finally removed the stem from the faucet that has been leaking and the washer was in two pieces. Unfortunately it's so badly damaged that I'm having trouble finding the right replacement. Is there any way to identify the manufacturer of the stem and then hopefully find a guide that tells me what washer size I need? Or is there any other trick to finding the right washer size? Thank you very much.

Get a package of multisize washers and try until you find one. You should also check the seat the washer goes against for grooves. A flashlight and flat screwdriver is usually needed. LonnythePlumber
