|In response to Re: Bathtub faucets|
: : : We wanted to replace our old bathtub fixtures. My husband can't get the old ones to budge. Any suggestions as to how to loosen them. They are origional to the house, making them 35+ years old, and probably very corroded inside.
: : : Thanks
: : What exactly are you trying to loosen? The handles, stems, etc? The connections from the valve body to the water supplies (the pipes inside the walls)?
: He is trying to get the handles and stems. Price Fischer is the manufacturer name. He has removed the plastic instert on the handle as well as the screw. Still can't get it off.
You often need a handle puller on old handles. It is an inexpensive tool. You will probably also need a special tool to remove the stems. You will probably also need a special tool to remove the seats. These are not expensive tools, however. Do not buy after market preplacement parts. Buy only original manufacturer parts.
