Since most benches are cosmetic and seldom really used, (how many people sit down to take a shower?), the location and shape is just your choice. The more important thing is how it is constructed. If it is a "bulkhead" then it can be a problem to make sure the "safety pan" includes it to prevent leakage. If it is a ledge off the wall then you will have the same concern, plus making sure it is solid enough so it does not flex and crack the tile or grout. : We are planning to remodel our 10 X 5 Master Bath. We have a 4'10" x 3' shower that takes up the full end of the room. : We would like to add 3 ft from 4th BR. Proposed shower will be angled in the corner. Anyone have suggestions on the bench? What is a good size? Which is better for comfort and function, Corner seat or straight bench? : Shower size can be 4" to 5" ft long and can go as wide as 3.6" A window is blocking the width size limitations.
