In response to Re: Replacing bathtub - new drain 3" off old drain
: We would like to try replacing our bathtub by ourselves but it turns out the drain on the new tub is 16 inches from the wall instead of 13 inches like the old bathtub. We thought the new one would just fit right over the new drain. Will this be an impossible job?

: Thanks for any imput ~

It is not impossible but could be a small project for a homeowner. The trap is usually relocated to accommodate the new location of the bathtub overflow waste outlet on the new bathtub. If the tub trap is lower than the new tub waste, you may be able to install drain fittings from the new tub waste to the existing bathtub drain trap.
Good Luck. e-plumber
