It needs a new stem cartridge. As to whether you can replace it depends on how easily the old one comes out. I have had many customers ruin the valve in the wall trying when with a simple call ahead of time would have let me remove it in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. : I have a single handle Moen bathtub handle. Just recently when pushed in (the off position) there is a steady stream from the faucet. Can the internal valve parts be replaced, or does the entire valve need to be? Looking at it through the wall, I hope I can take apart and replace the guts.
