In response to Re: Optimal Home Water Pressure???
: : What is the optimal water pressure for my home? I am on city water. I had a pressure reducer installed in my home, but I suspect the pressure is still too high...

: Why do you suspect the pressure is still too high?
: I think most PRVs come preset to around 60, which is not too high. I have a 40-60 pressure switch on my well and am happy with that pressure range.

I thought the pressure might still be too high since when the valves are closed on the faucets they makes a thunk sound. Also, the shut off valve in the ice maker clunks when it shuts off. I just got a water pressure gauge after work today and the water pressure after the PRV ready 55 psi. I think that is good, but will it hurt anything if I drop it 10 psi?
