: Over the last few days, we have had our copper water-pipes chattering whenever there is no water flowing in our house. If we open any faucet in the house and allow a small stream of water, the chattering stops. Once all water stops flowing, the chatter sets up again within 1-10 seconds. The vibration carries throughout the system, so it's difficult to identify the cause. Someone suggested to us that this might be caused by debris caught in the pressure-reducing valve.
