: : : I am hard connecting a toilet with 1/2 inch flexible chrome pipe. The fitting on the stop is a compression fitting. This is my second try (the first I gorrillaed the nut until I broke it.) I keep getting water seeping through between the pipe and the sleeve. What could be causing this continual problem with such a simple device. I am at my wits end...

: : Go to the local home improvement store and buy a stainless steel flexible closet supply line.

Michael,
With a solid riser for a toilet, the top with the 7/8" nut is tightened first. Then when that is snug, you can tighten up the lower compression sleeve and nut.
Make sure you are not using any Teflon tape. That is a sure way to cause problems.
