: Our washer used to be upstairs in our house. After various episodes of it leaking water on the floor we moved it to the garage. We have not used the hookup at the old location in at least 7 years. I have noticed a water mark on the dining room ceiling and went to investigate. The hot water faucet has a clear slime around it. It is slowly leaking down the outside of the drain pipe and dripping off at the bend onto the top of the drywall. How do I prevent the faucet from leaking like this? It is turned off completely. I only noticed this because I am getting ready to paint the dining room. I cut a hole in the wall to expose the pipes and discovered this. Thanks for all your help.
