: Hi, : I have a 3 1/2 year old Kohler showerhead with a constant drip. I have replaced washers on sink faucets in the past, but they had cut-off valves.: Several questions: : 1- Can I remove the valve stem from the showerhead WITHOUT shutting off the water at the main valve? : 2- I would like to be prepared with the correct washer. Can you tell me size, type, etc.? : 3- There appears to be one Phillips screw holding in the stem. Is there anything else involved in taking out the stem? : 4- Anything else I should know? : Thank you, : Mel Reply: 1- Can I remove the valve stem from the showerhead WITHOUT shutting off the water at the main valve? >You cannot remove the valve stem from the faucet without shutting the water. 2- I would like to be prepared with the correct washer. Can you tell me size, type, etc.? >Absolutely not. 3- There appears to be one Phillips screw holding in the stem. Is there anything else involved in taking out the stem? >The Phillips screw is probably holding on only the faucet handle. The stem is under the handle 4- Anything else I should know? >A good service plumbers phone number to repair this faucet for you. Watch what he/she does, and next time do it yourself. Good Luck. e-plumber
