Showerhead Drip

Hi, I have a 3 1/2 year old Kohler showerhead with a constant drip. I have replaced washers on sink faucets in the past, but they had cut-off valves. Several questions: 1- Can I remove the valve stem from the showerhead WITHOUT shutting off the water at the main valve? 2- I would like to be prepared with the correct washer. Can you tell me size, type, etc.? 3- There appears to be one Phillips screw holding in the stem. Is there anything else involved in taking out the stem? 4- Anything else I should know?
