I'd recommend using unions--thread one half of the union tight to the nipple and the other half tight to the supply line, then make up the union with a pair of wrenches. Remember _not_ to use pipe compound on the mating faces of the union, and to to check for leaks afterwards--unions need more tightening than most people think.
