It's not the sprayer it's self that is the problem, it's the valve. You may have an improvement if you take off the faucet and replace the valve that is in the base of the faucet, you don't need to go near the sprayer, at all. You will need a nickel to unscrew the valve, and dig in with a small finger to get the seal out. If you don't want to toss down the three bucks or so to replace it (like my husband), you can soak it in CLR.
