: Can you use galvanized strapping on PVC? It seems like I heard once that you aren't supposed to. The plastic strapping doesn't seem very strong when supporting 3 inch PVC. Reply: Yes you can, as long as the galvanized is plastic coated, similar to the coating on the handle of a ball valve. Here (NY), we're not permitted to use plastic J-hooks, straps, hangers, etc. for hanging PVC piping, according to code. Good Luck. e-plumber
