I just had new Whirlpool 40 gal natural gas unit installed today. Before the installer leave the pilot light was light. The water heated fine. This was around 5:00PM. The light is very tiny and you have to go down on the knees to see it. so far I don't have a problem. . I am going to wait and see tomorrow if the water is heating fine. If not then I have a problem. I am not concerned about who produced what, Mine was manufactured by US/Craftsmaster Water Heater Company That has Whirlpool tag on it. water heaters are not high tech items. It is a tank of water that has a small heating elements underneath. I have a nine years warranty. I will see tomorrow.
