Essentially you cannot. You have to remove the shower floor and the tile part way up on the walls. Then break the floor and install the trap and the proper drain fitting. Then install a safety pan to protect against flooding in the event of a tile leak. Then retile the shower. First I would have a plumber check the drain to be certain there is no trap and that it is just not visible. It is sometimes harder to install a shower without a trap then with one. : Terry, : We have a new construction Home, and the trap on the first floor shower was not installed. We have radiant floor heat in a 6 inch slab, and just a quick note as to why the contractor cannot be called, he skipped at about 80% finished, and no subs were ever paid.
