It sounds excessive to me too. Installing the DW is more of a carpenter problem than plumbing. Given you must do the drain properly, there's only one water line and that's a flex hose. You will want a separate electrically box possibly on it's own circuit. The clothes washer needs a trap, vent, and 1-1/2"+ slope to the main drain. If you're working with ABS or PVC it's cut and paste. The water supply is no problem. One tool I have found to be very helpful working on a basement or any other concrete walls/floors is a relatively small 3 function rotary hammer/drill. Costs about $100, but will drill concrete or steel, chip/chisel concrete. Grizzly Industrial has them.
