Well Water Pressure

My mother is experiencing a sudden problem. When she opens any faucet, Washer,within the house, she has adequate pressure. Suddenly the pressure drops tp provide a trickle. All this within 30 seconds of the demand. I watched the pressure gauge last evening and this is what I found. The manometer read 100 lbs!. Water flowed and eventually slowed to a trickle as indicated. The pressure was about 75 until the pump powered up returning the pressure to 100. I wondered about the pressure switch and whether replacing/adjusting would help the problem. However, I am curious to why the manometer is reading 100 pounds and what may need to be done to make this number more reasonable. Happy Holidays
