: i'm buiding a new bathroom on the first floor. do i need to have a separate vent teed off from the waste line of this toilet if there is already a vent at a septic tank. i'm afraid if i don't have a separate vent line from the one at the septic tank, then it won't flush properly because this bathroom is on the first floor. You actually have a vent out of your septic tank? EVERY fixture has to be vented. It has to be done with certain fittings, within a certain distance from the fixture and in a certain way. You should seriously consider a pro to at least lay this out for you. Deb The Pipewench
