In response to Re: PVC to cast iron transition fitting
: Just wanted to clarify. The clean out plug is horizontal in a vertical cast iron T at the base of the main stack/foundation as it increases to 4" sewer main. There is nothing more to melt out - it's one piece. The plug is 3 1/2". I purchased a 3 1/2" to 3" threaded bushing, and plan on using this and then a 3" Y to connect the branch drain. Am I missing anything here?

: Thanks for all your help!

It sounds like it's a clean-out plug into a flush tee. In order to tie into it legally, it would need to be a tee wye, besides that is not a pipe size female thread, it is only for a clean out plug.
Cut a section of the stack out, add another clean-out and the correct branch fitting that you need.
Good Luck. e-plumber
