In response to Re: Drill or Jackhammer the concrete of basement when installing new tub.
: BTW, the builder told me that the concrete is about 4 inch and gravel below that.

: thanks again!

: : Hi,

: : I'm trying to finish my basement by myself. The drain left by builder need to be moved by about 10 inch. Therefore, digging into the concrete seems to be a "have to" job. I'm wondering if I can use drill to finish this work instead of jackhammer. I'm afraid of jackhammer is too BIG for this job and may damage concrete. If I can use drill, how do I proceed? Any advice would be highly appreciated.

: : Thank you very much for taking your time and giving me some advice.

You can use either method, I would use a jackhammer with a chipping bit. If the jackhammer you're going to use is electric, you more than likey do not need to worry about causing and damage to the surrounding cement.
If you drill, you would need to drill a series of holes and use a sledge or lump hammer to break the chunks off, carefully.
Good Luck. e-plumber
