: Does a washing machine overflow tray get plumbed into a drain line? Does it need a trap?
: Wouldn't that trap need to be primed? Or does the tray just catch the first two gallons or so?

Yes, these pans are supposed to be piped to an appropriate drain receptacle. And yes, a trap primer will be needed if the drain trap where the pan discharge drains to is subject to evaporation.
