: I have two toilets in my home; when I flush the one upstairs, the one downstairs overflows with sewage (beyond disgusting). Can I repair that or should I call the plumber? I am a DYI person and would like to give it a try before I pay someone else. HELP! The main line is probably clogged and will need to be snaked with a large power auger or jetted. Although you can rent these, it takes experience to negotiate the bends and turns in a drainage system. And they are dangerous. A large cable that binds up and coils can do some real damage to the operator if they do not know what they are doing--they can break bones and take off fingers. Deb The Pipewench
