: I have a two-story home. When we run water in a shower, sink, dishwasher or wash machine (all on the first or second floors) for any length of time, the toilet in the first floor bathroom begins to gurgle with air bubbles, then water from the drain pipe underneath the toilet backs up into the toilet and spills over on to the floor. I had a plumber to the house this afternoon and he said that our drain pipe out to the sewer is clogged and would have to be power rodded at a cost of $2000 or more. Does anyone have any thoughts on a cheaper fix? We're in the process of selling our home "as is" and don't want to spend much on repairs. Thanks.

Damon,
You may want a 2nd plumber to look at it.
There are quite a few plumbers that will snake a line for less than $300
