Running gas line down chimney flue for gas log install

I am installing vent-free gas logs into a fireplace in the basement of my house. The only way to get the gas to the logset is to go down the chimney flue. Local gas company said that was okay.. Installed using the CSST that has a plastic jacket around it. When logs are on, the CSST is getting hot. The website for the CSST (gastite.com) said that the jacket was rated to 200F and the tubing to 2400F. If I strip the jacket off the tubing, do you think it will be okay to leave it installed as is? I think after the tubing gets out of the firebox and into the flue, there will be enough fresh air to keep the tubing from getting too hot.
