Unless the head's connection was worn to the point that it just disconnected, then a hose will not push it anywhere, and a plumber's auger, with a retriever on it, could grab your snake's head and get stuck if it is lodged in a crack or joint in the pipe. : Any one know of any tricks to remove an auger tip that has broken off in a main sewer line. : I've got the old clay pipes that just welcomes roots through all the joints. I usually have to clean it once maybe every 9-12 months. Worked well for about 16 years. But tonight I hit a spot that apparently broke the spiral tip off the auger. Did not really notice it till I pulled it back in. I thought about just running a regular garden house down and just pushing it on to the sewer. Any suggestions from some of you more experienced guys would greatly be appreciated! Thanks.
