|In response to Re: Can I vent my dryer through the soffit?|
: I tried a search on this but can't find the question answered. So... I have a finished room over my garage, attached to the house. There is a wide soffit on each side of the garage, but really no attice space and no exterior walls, just roof. If you can visualize this- I'd like to vent a gas dryer through the soffit rather than through the roof. There appears to be plenty of room to do it, but the dryer exhaust would be heading down perhaps a foot or so. Is this acceptable? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Yes ,this is the best way to go about it. You don't have to worry about roof leaks, etc. Make sure you install the proper termination flapper at the soffit. It's a special design with a inverted "SPLIT TEE" flapper for a horizontal installation. The vertical type will not work as they would remain open all the time. Hube
