After the job is done, is not the time to question what it costs. Unless you trust your plumber ask for an estimate up front. Sometimes specific conditions will make an estimate impractical, or the estimate could need revision once the repairs are started. I try never to repair a gas water heater that needs a thermosstat. The cost of doing so is fairly high, and the heater could start leaking the next week and make the new part a waste of money. : I recently had the Pressure release valve and gas valve replaced on my hot water heater by a plumber. He charged me $525.00 and I think I got robbed. Is this way out of line for this kind of service?
