: : I recently read on you msg. board that if water comes out of the overflow on top of the sink from my dishwasher, I may need to replace the air gap. My dishwasher was working great until the handyman fixed my garbage disposal. I have a roper dishwasher does it mater what type of air gap?

: : thanks

: Fixed or replaced? If the disposer is new he may not have punched out the plug. If fixed the line may be clogged nor kinked. Any small kink can cause water to come out the airgap. If no kink then it probably it just clogged with food or debris and should be changed out.

Nothing against handymen but you should have a licensed plumber check the DW air gap problem. The air gap will not need to be replaced but the drain line could possibly be clogged or the hose kinked.
If the handyman returns, make sure he has an electric drain cleaning machine with him.
Good Luck. e-plumber
