I have a similar situation; I'd rather not replace a new sump pump or dig a new hole, but I would like some peace of mind. Have not bought it yet, but take a look at www.basepump.com/Hydropump.htm. This fits into the existing sump well and works alongside, as a backup, with a battery. Looks good online....still researching, but thought I'd pass it on.
