Not unless you shut the water off and sucked something into the system because you do not have backflow preventers on the hose. More likely it is a build up in the sink's overflow passage and when you turn the water on it forces air through that passage and brings the odor out with it.

: Just in the last 2 weeks, a sewer gas odor has been emanating from a bathroom faucet when it is turned on. This is a frequently used faucet so the trap is not dry. The odor seems to be from the water and not the drain.
: We also had 1 load of 'not so April fresh' laundry about 2 weeks ago, but that problem seems to have gone away.
: This is city sewer and city water. The neighbors have not had the same complaint.
: Thsi could not be a garden hose backflow problem could it?
