I'm in the process of having my septic system hooked up with the city's sewage. The house is about 35 years old and came with the "already built hooked up to the city's sewage" cast iron pipes system under the basement concrete floor for this purpose.
Yesterday, I had the plumber come in to evaluate what had to be done for this task and he suggested to have all the cast iron pipes replaced with the plastic ones (for rusting purposes). Of course, this will cost me about $4,000 which is quite a burden for me (the outside hooking already costs me $5,000).
My question is: "Can I still hookup with the "already built" system (never used)?" and how long the system will last?. I visually check at the open of the female entrance on the basement floor and it looked good under there.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Have a great day!
