Will it work?? Probably. Is it a good idea? No! If the drain plugs up there will be no way to unplug it properly and you will probably not be able to make a good seal between the drain and the trap so if it does plug up water will overflow under the tub. Make a proper drain system.
: Hello, i am considering adding a bathtub in the basement. my question is concerning the drain. There is a 4 inch floor drain about there, its just a drain with a grate that sits flush with the floor. The old home owners had a shower there and the water just ran on the floor to the drain... I wanted to put in a 3inch high sub floor and run the tub drain under the floor and drop the pipe into the 4 inch drain. Is this ok to do or will i need to re locate the drain?
