: Excuse my ignorance, but I just took delivery of my new TOTO Drake toilet, and on the back of the top rim of the tank there is a half-moon notch. Did I get a damaged tank, or is it supposed to be there? If so, what is it for?

Many brands of toilets have the notch.
I don't know if it helps in the production of the toilet,
Helps to provide venting,
Or is for a future place to hang something from.
The water never gets that high, so no problem there.
