You only refinish the tub if you do not want to go to the expense of retiling. Since you are well past that stage install a new tub. Refinishing will cost almost the same and will never last as long as the new tub will. Removing and installing it is very simple to a plumber who has done it before. : Terry, : Fantastic site! Anyway, the reason for my post is : should I replace my 40 year old cast iron tub or have someone refinish it? The color is awful but the tub is functional.
