In response to Re: installing tile under back-outlet toilet
: We are in the process of installing ceramic tile in our upstairs bathroom. Originally, the floor had only vinyl tile so with the new tile the toilet will be raised about 5/8 inch. Unfortunately, the toilet is a back-outlet toilet connecting to the wall, rather than the floor. As a result the flange will not align properly. What are our options? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Leaving the toilet on the original vinyl and tiling around the bowl would be my choice. Your other option is opening the wall and seeing if you can raise the flange the required 5/8". You need to be really acurate with this type of install.
