|In response to Re: Redesigned Moen Posi-temp Cartridge Doesn't Fit|
: : I just recently bought a house, only two years old, that came with a leaking Moen Posi-temp shower head. I purchased a new cartridge, the 1222b, which has been redesigned apparently since my shower head was installed. The new cartridge simply doesn't fit. Moen has been gracious enough to send me several more cartridges, complimentary, but none of them fit. The brass pin can not be inserted all the way, because the plastic cartridge sticks out about a millimeter more than the old one. Nothing is in the valve - I have a double shower head and the old cartridges fit both, the new cartridges fit neither. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so what can I do????
: I have never run into this (and I service and install alot of Moens). But, perhaps you can take the old cartridge and replace ALL the rubber parts (including the internal o-rings) with parts from the new cartridge and use the old cartridge.
Deb, Do you know when the Moen cartridge was redesigned? My house is only 2 years old, so it seems funny that the parts are no longer available to fit this cartridge. The two exterior rubber pieces are a totally different shape on the new cartridge than on mine. Do they make cartridge rebuilding kits for the old cartridge? Thanks for your help!
