The original flappers are notorious for warping.
: : It is probably the correct part, but installed wrong.
: : : We replaced the flush valve unit in our CW toilet. To do so we had to shorten the overflow pipe and we removed the styrofoam float attached to the chain. Now there is a glitch: the flapper does not seal in its flush valve seat and there is a leak between the tank and the bowl,HELP! Did we buy a wrong replacement part?
: Thanks for the quick response. It seemed like a pretty straightforward procedure. The flapper was a part of the total unit. I wonder how screwing the flush valve into place with the proper gaskets in place could keep the flapper from sealing its seat? We'll take it back to our local plumbing supply house to see what we're doing wrong.
