Cast iron pipe problem

I have a house built in 1966 that has cast iron drain pipes. No problem until I went to repair a toilet that has alwasy been loose at the floor fitting. When I finally got around to taking up the toilet to repair it I found that the cast iron flange of the pipe was used bolt the toilet down. The section of the cast iron where the lose bolt belonged was cracked off. How do I repair this? While I have made many plumbing repairs over the years I have never dealt with cast iron. The section of pipe in question seems to fit into a joint. Where can I find resources for working with cast iron?
