In response to Re: Sewer gas odor
I had the same apparent symptoms about a year ago. Look down the drain in the sink, if there is a couple of inches of water in the trap, replace the wax ring on your toilet (yes sewer gases can escape a defective ring seal yet not leak water when flushed). If there is almost no water in sink trap you have a vent problem, buy a plumbing book at Ollies like me or call a plumber like Terry. The wax ring can emit sewer gases from the base of your toilet and you will swear its coming from the sink drain, tub drain, mouse hole, etc...sewer gases have a way of dulling the Olfactory (sp?) nerve and making source detection nasally impossible. Good luck.
: Terry,

: I hope that you can help me. For several months now, I have been having an odor like raw sewage in my house; specifically coming from both bathroom drain holes, from the toilets and from the sinks. I live in the country, and dont know when the last time my landlord had the sewer cleaned, but have contacted her and at the verge of calling the health department because I am experiencing symptoms of dizziness, diarhea, headaches and have actually passed out a dozen times. I have read what methane gas can do, and it is obviously more hazardous than what is happening to me, but I am concerned and wondered if you could advise. The landlord seems to claim that it is a plug or something.

: Thank you for any help that you can offer. I do not know if I am supposed to check your site for an answer, or can you e-mail me back and let me know something? I appreciate your time and consideration.

: Thanks,
: Cindy Daniels
